Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi Released On Cash Bail After Arrest, Details

Kitutu Chache South Member of Parliament Anthony Kibagendi has been released on bail a day after his arrest by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Kibagendi was granted a cash bail of 100,000 Kenyan shillings. Alternatively, he could post a bond of 200,000 shillings. The decision was made at the Narok Law Courts, where he faced assault charges.

The MP’s arrest on January 20 followed a public announcement he made on his social media page. In the post, he said he was forcefully taken to the DCI headquarters.

The assault charges relate to an incident that occurred late last year. On November 27, 2025, Kibagendi was reportedly involved in a physical altercation at a Java House in Kisii town. CCTV footage from the restaurant circulated online and appeared to show him attacking another customer.

In the video, Kibagendi is seen grabbing a man by the throat and kicking him in the chest. He also allegedly slapped another person who tried to intervene. The victim, Enock Omariba Moriasi, filed a formal complaint supported by medical reports documenting the injuries.
