Uhuru Kenyatta Calls Opposition Leaders to Meeting as Cracks Emerge

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to convene a meeting of opposition leaders as political divisions within some member parties continue to emerge ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The meeting comes at a critical moment for the opposition, with disagreements over leadership, political strategy, coalition arrangements, and individual ambitions threatening to weaken efforts to establish a united political front.

Uhuru, who has remained an influential figure in Kenya's political landscape despite leaving office, is expected to use the meeting to encourage dialogue among opposition leaders and address emerging differences.

The discussions could focus on strengthening cooperation, resolving internal disputes, and establishing a common approach ahead of the next election.
