The man, who recently lost his wife Moraa in a tragic car accident, said he made the discovery while sorting through her belongings. Moraa died suddenly, leaving him to raise their four-year-old daughter, Sophie, alone.
According to the man, he had decided to donate some of his wife's clothes to a children's home. While checking her wardrobe, he found a locked wooden jewellery box hidden under several clothes. Expecting to find family keepsakes and jewellery, he forced the box open.
Instead, he found a stack of payment receipts carefully arranged by month and year. The receipts showed that Moraa had been sending exactly half of her monthly salary to his father, Mzee Barasa.
Each payment carried the same note, "Quiet Agreement," and all the receipts were signed by his father.
The widower said he was devastated by the discovery because his family had struggled financially for years. He remembered times when Moraa skipped meals and went without basic comforts, claiming she was trying to save money.
Determined to find answers, he took the receipts and attended a family gathering held during Moraa's one-month memorial prayers. Family members had gathered to remember her life and support her husband and daughter.
During the gathering, the man confronted his father and placed one of the receipts in front of him. Witnesses said the room immediately fell silent as family members examined the documents.
