President Ruto Leads KSHs 258.4 Million NYOTA Capital Boost for Over 10,000 Youth

President William Ruto today presided over the disbursement of KSh258.4 million in NYOTA Business Capital Support to 10,337 young entrepreneurs from Nairobi, Kiambu, and Kajiado counties at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The support targets youth-led enterprises and is designed to go beyond start-up capital by providing continuous training, mentorship, and structured follow-up to strengthen business growth and long-term sustainability. The initiative underscores the Government’s commitment to youth socio-economic empowerment as a foundation for national development.

Beyond enterprise development, the programme contributes directly to improved public health outcomes. Stable incomes enhance access to healthcare, improve nutrition, reduce vulnerability to substance abuse, and support overall mental and social wellbeing.

By empowering young people economically, the Government is also strengthening communities and positioning youth as key partners in building a healthier, more productive, and more prosperous Kenya.

In addition, we will support 20,000 young people in the Recognition of Prior Learning component of Nyota. The government will fund a certification course of up to one month to enable a smooth transition into employment.

At the same time, we will support another 90,000 young people to undergo on-the-job training. They will be attached to master craftsmen and women for skills transfer, and receive a KSh6,000 stipend a month for six months. The master craftsmen will also be paid as the government also meets the cost of certification.

To enable young people, women and persons with disability participate in government procurement, we will train 600,000 of them to access 30 per cent opportunities reserved for these categories of people.
