Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament, Peter Kaluma, has made bold claims about the deadly Gen Z protests that shook Kenya in 2024 and 2025.

Speaking through his official X account, Kaluma alleged that the demonstrations were not purely youth-driven but were instead financed and influenced by groups he linked to the LGBTQ community.

According to Kaluma, the protests that rocked major towns were “led, funded, promoted, and facilitated” by individuals and organizations whose interests had little to do with the concerns of ordinary Kenyan youth.

He further described the movements as “satanic,” arguing that the youth were misled into the streets for purposes that did not serve their long-term future.

“Never again will people in immoral and unlawful relationships mislead our children to go to the streets for hidden satanic ends,” Kaluma wrote, calling for sanctions against such groups.

His statement has sparked heated debate, with many questioning whether his remarks were an attempt to discredit a movement that exposed failures in government leadership.

For months, Gen Z protests highlighted issues such as unemployment, high taxation, corruption, and the rising cost of living.
Other leaders have, however, painted a different picture of the protests. Saboti MP Caleb Amisi described the demonstrations as part of a “global wave of youthful awakening.”

He argued that the young generation was simply standing up for accountability and good governance.

Amisi even drew parallels with youth-led movements in the United States, where activism has shaped the political direction around leaders like Donald Trump.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka also praised the movement, calling it a courageous stand against selfish leadership.
