Speaking during a joint media interview with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Gachagua explained that although DCP intends to field a candidate for the Nairobi governorship, the party will work closely with Wiper and other allied parties when selecting candidates for positions such as Senator, Woman Representative, and Members of Parliament.
According to him, the coalition's goal is to avoid internal competition and present the strongest candidates in each race.
Gachagua also addressed the political future of Nyali MP Mohammed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu. While he had previously endorsed Ali as DCP’s preferred candidate for the Mombasa governorship, he revealed that coalition discussions had resulted in a different arrangement.
The former deputy president stated that Mohammed Ali, though associated with DCP, would contest the Mombasa gubernatorial seat on a Wiper Party ticket as part of a broader opposition strategy.

He noted that similar agreements would be implemented in other counties and urban centres to strengthen the coalition’s chances in the next election.
Kalonzo Musyoka has also publicly backed Mohammed Ali’s gubernatorial bid, describing him as a capable and credible leader who can transform Mombasa County.
