Munya Breaks Silence On Kindiki, But Mt Kenya Power Game Tells A Deeper Story

Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has declared he holds no personal grievance against Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, a statement that arrives at a moment of intense political realignment across the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 elections.

Munya, who leads the Party of National Unity and has publicly backed former Interior CS Fred Matiang'i for the presidency, made the remarks amid growing speculation about factional tensions within the region. 

His clarification, though brief, lands in a landscape where political relationships are being carefully negotiated and old rivalries either buried or sharpened.

The Deputy President commands considerable support across Mt Kenya, with regional leaders having previously declared his position non-negotiable in any coalition talks. 

Munya, who has declared interest in the 2027 Meru gubernatorial race, operates in the same political territory — making any public statement about Kindiki a calculated move rather than casual diplomacy.
