Fresh Political Headache for Ruto, Mudavadi, Wetang’ula and ODM as Gachagua Reportedly Eyes Western Kenya Vote Bloc Ahead of 2027

A new political battle is quietly taking shape ahead of the 2027 General Election, with reports indicating that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is intensifying efforts to establish a strong foothold in Western Kenya, a region traditionally viewed as a key battleground in national politics. According to reports, Gachagua and his allies are crafting a strategy aimed at expanding their influence in the vote-rich region, a move that could potentially challenge both President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza coalition and opposition forces that have historically enjoyed significant support there.

Sources familiar with the political developments claim that the former Deputy President is seeking to build alliances with a new generation of influential leaders capable of mobilizing support across Western Kenya.

Among the names reportedly attracting attention is Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, whose political profile has continued to rise in recent months following increased visibility in national debates and regional political discussions.

Political observers also point to Gachagua's growing relationship with several prominent leaders from the region, including Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and DAP-Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa.

These connections have fueled speculation that a broader political realignment could be underway as politicians begin positioning themselves ahead of the next electoral contest.
