Thief Shot Dead by Colleague During Car Theft Attempt Buried in Private Ceremony at Makueni Home

A suspected criminal who died after allegedly being shot by his own accomplice during a failed carjacking attempt along the busy Mombasa Road has been laid to rest in a private ceremony at his rural home in Makueni County.

Gift Musau Muia, whose death attracted widespread attention after details of the dramatic incident emerged, was buried at Misava Village in Maikuu, with family members opting for a low-key send-off away from public scrutiny.

Journalists who attempted to cover the burial were reportedly denied access as relatives sought privacy during the emotional occasion.

According to information released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Muia was allegedly part of a group suspected of planning a vehicle hijacking near Mutomo in Kibwezi.

Investigators claim the group targeted a Subaru Impreza that was being transported toward Uganda through Kenya’s highway network.
