OPINION: UDA MPs Who Risk Losing their Seats in the Upcoming General Election

With the next general election around the corner, politicians have started making strategic positioning that can boost their chances of winning seats.

Most aspirants are aligning with their community kingpins who they expect to endorse them when the right time comes.

However, there are some elected leaders who have adamantly refused to join their kingpin. These leaders risk losing their seats because their opponents are seeking the endorsement of the influential kingpins.

Two of them are National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah and National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro. FIND THE FULL LIST HERE.

Kimani Ichung'wah
Ichung'wah is seeking fourth term as the Member of Parliament of Kikuyu constituency. He is competing against Stephen Kigathi and Owen Ndung'u who are both eying DCP ticket. DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua is currently the most influential politician in Mt Kenya region according to the recent researches and opinion polls.

The majority leader is a close ally of President William Ruto and a staunch member ot UDA. Ichung'wah and Gachagua are great rivals at the moment and the latter will definitely use his influence to send the former packing in 2027.

Sylvanus Osoro

The South Mugirango MP is seeking third term in the next general election. The lawmaker has vehemently refused to work with the Abagusii kingpin Fred Matiang'i who is running for the presidential seat.

Instead, Osoro is backing President William Ruto's re-election bid when most Abagusii are supporting their son.

Osoro risks losing by going against the wish of majority of the Abagusii people. The candidate who will be endorsed by Matiang'i will have a high chance of winning the South Mugirango seat against Osoro in the upcoming general election.
