Woman Rep. Alleges Ruto-Winnie Odinga Job Offer That Didn't Materialise

The Kisii Woman Representative has alleged that President William Ruto held private discussions with Winnie Odinga over senior government positions after the death of Raila Odinga. In a Facebook post shared moments earlier she claimed the reported talks caused anger among top ODM officials and widened existing rifts within the party. Her statement quickly ignited debate in Nairobi and parts of western Kenya.

According to her claims the alleged engagement unsettled party loyalists who felt sidelined. Supporters from rival camps exchanged sharp words online as the issue gained traction across political circles.

The remarks emerged soon after Winnie Odinga unveiled a new pressure group in Kibra. She appeared at Kamukunji Grounds alongside her brother Raila Odinga Jr and close allies Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino. The event drew large crowds and was seen as a bold signal of resistance to established party leadership.

Addressing supporters Winnie said she was fighting to protect her father’s legacy and the future of ODM. She accused senior party figures of chasing personal interests while locking out younger leaders. She also warned against expulsions and covert cooperation with UDA.

Her allies are advocating for a firm opposition posture as the 2027 election approaches. They reject any form of collaboration with President Ruto and want ODM to revive grassroots activism and street politics.

On the other side a faction linked to acting party leader Oburu Oginga supports engagement with the government. Leaders in this camp argue that dialogue promotes stability and opens doors to influence and state power.

The conflicting positions highlight deepening divisions within ODM as competing visions for the party’s direction continue to clash in public.
