RIP : Businesswoman Who Died After Falling From 8th Floor of Nairobi Apartment Buried in Murang'a

Grief engulfed Murang'a County during the burial of 20-year-old businesswoman Gorreti Makena, who passed away after allegedly falling from the 8th floor of an apartment in an alleged suicide.

According to reports, the founder of the Ray of Daylight Charity organization died after the mysterious fall on January 10, 2026.

She had allegedly visited her boyfriend prior to the incident, which was caught on camera.

Her body was taken to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures as police attempt to establish what happened prior to the incident. A CCTV footage that allegedly captured the incident is being reviewed.

Her death caught the attention of Kenyans who took to social media platforms to send their condolences to her family.

This was after it was reported that she took her life for unknown reasons. She was laid to rest at her home in Murang'a.

Friends remembered her as a woman who fought for what she wanted, noting her success at such a young age.

Health experts in Nairobi revealed that Nairobi City Mortuary receives close to 30 suicide cases every weekend.

The World Health Organization has linked such cases to factors including unemployment, academic pressure, bullying, previous suicide attempts, family history, substance misuse, depression disorders, and anxiety disorders, among others.
