In a statement released on 21 January, UDA confirmed the launch of registration for its Aspirants’ Forum, a platform for party hopefuls to officially participate in the nomination process.
The announcement also unveiled a tiered fee structure, with costs varying depending on the elective position being sought.
According to the party, aspiring Members of County Assembly (MCAs) will pay the lowest fee of Ksh 2,000 to secure their spot in the party’s nomination process.
Details of fees for higher positions, including gubernatorial, parliamentary, and senatorial seats, were not disclosed but are expected to be significantly higher.
The move underscores UDA’s effort to formalize and streamline the nomination process, ensuring that aspirants demonstrate both commitment and seriousness about their political ambitions.
Party officials also emphasized that the fees would contribute to administrative costs related to organizing primaries and supporting party structures across the country.
Political analysts suggest that the tiered fee system could serve a dual purpose: raising funds for the party while potentially limiting entry to aspirants with strong financial backing.
However, UDA leaders insist that the process remains open and transparent, with the focus on attracting committed individuals ready to champion the party’s agenda.
As the 2027 elections approach, the registration for UDA’s Aspirants’ Forum is expected to draw keen interest from politicians seeking to leverage the party’s strong national presence.
The party has urged aspirants to complete their registration early to avoid last-minute challenges.
