Salasaya Fires Back at Amisi Over Opposition Unity Debate, States The Following

Mumias East MP Peter Salasaya has publicly hit back at Saboti MP Caleb Amisi after the latter raised doubts about the sustainability of the United Opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Amisi had warned opposition-leaning politicians against blindly committing to a coalition he described as fragile. He questioned whether the United Opposition would hold together and raised scenarios where key figures like Kalonzo Musyoka or Rigathi Gachagua could eventually side with President William Ruto.

The Saboti MP also backed Gachagua's earlier call asking Gen Z protesters to stand down ahead of the June 25 demonstrations to prevent violence.

He further criticized opposition leaders including Senate Minority Leader James Orengo for mobilizing young people to the streets then abandoning the families of victims once police intervened.

Salasaya was having none of it. Taking to his official X account on June 26 he directed sharp words at Amisi saying that any leader who has withstood Ruto's pressure and remained in the opposition has already proven their resolve. He asked what could possibly convince such a person to cross over at this stage.
