Details out on Why Anyang Nyong'o, MPs Nyikal, Homa Bay Women Rep Skipped ODM Busia Meeting

Several senior Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders were absent from the party’s Linda Ground Initiative meeting in Busia County after choosing to attend the burial of a close friend. Among those missing the event were Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o, Seme MP Dr. James Nyikal, and Homa Bay Woman Representative Joyce Bensouda.

The leaders traveled to Kolunje Village in Seme Constituency to take part in the funeral of Dr. George Rae, a respected medic and public servant. The burial ceremony was held at Mbeka Primary School, where family members, friends, community leaders, professionals, and mourners gathered to honor his life and service.

After the ceremony, Governor Nyong’o shared a heartfelt tribute, describing Dr. Rae as a man of integrity, commitment, and strong leadership. He noted that Dr. Rae dedicated his life to serving people through both public service and the medical field, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to guide future generations.

Nyong’o added that those who knew Dr. Rae are committed to living by the values he stood for, including selfless service, professionalism, and compassion. He said preserving Dr. Rae’s legacy is a shared responsibility among friends, colleagues, and the wider community.

The absence of the leaders from the Busia event drew attention, but many supporters understood their decision, recognizing the importance of standing with friends and families during moments of loss.
