Pressure Mounts on Gachagua as He's Given Ultimatum to Announce Flag Bearer or Declared Irrelevant

Political analyst Herman Manyora has cautioned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that his political influence could diminish if his ongoing 45-day consultations in Wamunyoro fail to produce a clear outcome.

Speaking during his daily political analysis on his YouTube channel on Friday, July 3, 2026, Manyora argued that the success of Gachagua’s political engagements will ultimately be judged by whether they help unite the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

According to the analyst, simply holding meetings without reaching a decisive conclusion could weaken Gachagua’s standing among Kenyans who are looking for a credible alternative to the current administration.

Manyora stressed that time is a critical factor in politics and warned that prolonged uncertainty could leave Gachagua politically irrelevant.

He maintained that if the opposition does not rally behind a single presidential candidate after the consultation period, the electorate may decide to take matters into their own hands by identifying and supporting a leader they believe is best suited to challenge President William Ruto.
