The night was unusually quiet along the Nairobi–Mombasa highway, the kind of silence that wraps itself around small towns like a blanket, broken only by the distant hum of trucks hauling goods across the country.....WATCH FULL VIDEO HERE.

In Mtito Andei, a town known more for its dusty roads and roadside eateries than crime, few could have imagined the chaos that would soon unfold.

Under the dim glow of flickering streetlights, four men moved with calculated precision toward a small M-Pesa shop tucked between a general store and a closed hardware outlet. Their faces were concealed, their movements swift, and within minutes, the stillness of the night was shattered by fear.

Inside the shop, the attendant barely had time to react. The thieves forced their way in, issuing threats in hushed but urgent tones. One stood guard at the entrance, another quickly swept cash into a bag, while the remaining two ensured no alarms were raised. It was a well-coordinated operation, suggesting planning and experience.

The robbery lasted less than five minutes, but its impact lingered far longer. As quickly as they had appeared, the men vanished into the darkness, jumping into a waiting vehicle and speeding off toward the highway.

What followed next would turn their carefully planned heist into a nightmare. Witnesses later reported hearing the screeching of tires moments after the vehicle sped away.
