"Mtachagua Kalonzo?" Migori Crowd Erupts as Ichung'wah Hits at Gachagua, Kalonzo, Matiang'i

Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah on Saturday visited Suba East in Migori County, where he joined residents for an ODM Women Empowerment Programme held in Suna East.....WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.

Although the gathering focused on empowerment, it quickly took on a political tone as the Kikuyu MP launched a spirited attack on opposition leaders, casting doubt on their ability to mount a successful challenge against President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking to the crowd, Ichung’wah asked whether any of the opposition's leading figures had what it takes to defeat President Ruto in a presidential race. The audience responded with chants of "hawawezi," expressing confidence in the president while dismissing the opposition's prospects.

Ichung’wah particularly criticized Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, arguing that despite his many years in politics, he has failed to establish a solid independent political base. He claimed Kalonzo has spent much of his political career relying on alliances with other leaders, especially Late Raila Odinga, instead of building his own national influence.

The Majority Leader also targeted Democracy for the Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua and Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Fred Matiang’i, both of whom have been mentioned as possible presidential hopefuls. According to Ichung’wah, Gachagua is ineligible to contest any elective seat because of the court ruling linked to his impeachment case.
