The President comes from a large family and has several siblings who have largely chosen to live away from the glare of public attention despite their connection to the Head of State.

Among those occasionally mentioned in public discussions is David Kiprotich Ruto, one of the President’s brothers. 

Another sibling, Mary Cheptoo, has also been referenced in stories about the family’s roots and upbringing in Uasin Gishu County.

Raised in a modest rural setting, the Ruto family relied heavily on farming and livestock keeping for their livelihood.
