WATCH HIS FULL STORY HERE.
Raised in western Kenya by his aging grandmother, Kevin says he has spent most of his life wondering why his mother disappeared and whether she ever thought about the son she left behind.
According to family members, Kevin’s mother allegedly became deeply involved with a religious movement that many villagers considered secretive and cult-like due to its strict practices, isolation from outsiders, and demands for complete devotion from followers.
Some residents claimed members of the church were discouraged from maintaining strong relationships with family members outside the congregation, while others believed the group encouraged followers to cut ties completely to focus on spiritual teachings.
Though accounts vary and details remain unclear, Kevin says one fact has remained constant — his mother never returned home.
“My childhood has always felt incomplete,” Kevin shared quietly. “Every birthday, every school event, every difficult moment, I wished my mother was there.”
Kevin says he was only around two years old when his mother disappeared from his life. Too young to understand what had happened, he grew up depending on stories told by relatives.
Some family members claimed she had moved to another region with members of the church. Others alleged she may have relocated to a neighboring country as part of the religious movement’s activities.
But nobody could ever confirm exactly where she went.
Growing up, Kevin often struggled emotionally.
He recalls sitting quietly during school events while classmates were accompanied by their mothers.
“There were moments I felt jealous,” he admitted. “I would watch my friends being hugged by their mums and wonder what I had done wrong.”
Kevin says his grandmother did her best to raise him with love despite financial hardship.
“She became everything to me,” he said. “She sacrificed so much, but no one can fully replace a mother.”
The unanswered questions affected him deeply as he grew older.
At times, anger consumed him.
