In 2015, he was fished by the then President Uhuru Kenyatta from Google East Africa, where he served as the Chief Executive Officer, and appointed to the cabinet.
That marked the rise of Joe Mucheru, the man who would later become very powerful in the Uhuru adminstration.
For the next seven years, he was the face of the ICT revolution in the country and won Uhuru's trust, making him one of his blue-eyed boys.
But the 2022 regime change in the country swept him aside as he was kicked out by the new President William Ruto.
However, in 2023, just months after being kicked out of Ruto's cabinet, Mucheru bounced back in style after being appointed as JUMO President.
