"Who Sent Those Foolish Police Officers?" Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi Controversial Remarks On Witima Church Attack

Senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has sharply criticized government decisions and the conduct of police officers following last Sunday’s attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at Witima Church.

In a post on X, Abdullahi described the political landscape surrounding Gachagua as “cold and foggy,” suggesting the former deputy president is facing isolation in his Mount Kenya stronghold.

He claimed that Gachagua’s political influence in Central Kenya is waning, with allies abandoning him and financial backers reluctant to support his initiatives.

According to Abdullahi, Gachagua’s perceived unpredictability and abrasive approach have left him vulnerable as even the United opposition reportedly shifts focus to more “formidable and affable” candidates.

Abdullahi questioned the rationale behind the actions of police officers who allegedly disrupted Gachagua’s rallies.

“Who sent these foolish officers to disrupt his rallies and scuttle every meeting he organises?” he asked, calling the use of law enforcement in political disputes both “stupid” and “clueless.”

He further criticized the lack of accountability for those involved, urging the arrest of officers responsible for the disruptions.

The senior counsel also targeted Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, suggesting it may be time for him to retire, and implied that President William Ruto should intervene.

Abdullahi framed the incident as a reflection of broader issues in government decision-making.

“When stupid people make crucial decisions for government, things go south," he added.

The post highlights tensions within Kenya’s political sphere as Gachagua continues to campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
