Murang'a County Women Representative Betty Maina has hit out at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after he was allegedly attacked inside church by people he claims are police officers.

While blaming the government for the alleged attack, Gachagua took to his Facebook page, saying that President William Ruto had sent a killer squad to disrupt a church service in Othaya, Nyeri which he was attending.

" William Ruto has sent a killer squad to kill us inside Witima ACK church, Othaya," he said.

"We are marooned in church being attacked with live bullets and tear gas and torched my vehicles. We ask Kenyans to pray for us to come out alive," he added.

But according to Maina who is allied to the President Ruto camp, the alleged attack on Gachagua is stage- managed for public sympathy.

"This are Gachagua's goon and well known. They should be arrested with immediate effect. No more script writing to gain Public sympathy," MP Maina said in a social media post.
