Speaking during the launch of the NYOTA startup capital disbursement in Machakos, he said the government has made it easier for citizens to access international job opportunities through streamlined labour migration programs.
Ruto explained that over 536,000 Kenyans have benefited from these programs, which are supported by reforms at the National Employment Authority (NEA) and faster passport processing.
He noted that Kenyan workers are highly valued globally due to their competence, English proficiency, and ability to perform without constant supervision.
"A Kenyan speaks good English. A Kenyan needs less supervision. A Kenyan will go beyond expectations.
Companies like Microsoft will tell you they prefer hiring a Kenyan over others," the president said.
He added that the government has cleaned up the NEA, removing corruption and fraudulent job placement entities that previously exploited jobseekers.
Now, the NEA website provides verified opportunities from across the world.
The president also highlighted measures to facilitate travel for workers, including expedited passport issuance and financial support for airfare when needed.
These initiatives, he said, have helped Kenyans reach key international labour markets such as the USA, Germany, France, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Austria.
Ruto emphasized that the benefits of labour export extend beyond individual workers.
He revealed that remittances from the diaspora now contribute around $1 billion (KSh 160 billion) to Kenya’s economy annually.
He concluded by urging young Kenyans to take advantage of the available pathways, asserting that the country’s human capital is among the best in the world and deserves every opportunity to shine globally.
