Gachagua Leaves His Supporters in Panic Mode Over Safety Claims

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has sent shockwaves through his massive support base after publicly declaring that his life is now in grave danger following the withdrawal of his state security detail.

In a statement during an interview on local media house and earlier remarks at AIPCA Kiamuoria Church in Gatundu North, Kiambu County, Gachagua insisted he is "not safe."

He accused the government of deliberately stripping him of protection despite his seniority in public service and the millions of Kenyans who still rally behind him as a key opposition figure eyeing the 2027 elections.

"I want to tell the people of Kenya that Rigathi Gachagua is not safe. The government withdrew security from him," he said, emphasizing that his continued political influence and role in shaping the next presidential race make him deserving of state protection.

The revelation comes amid heightened tensions, including recent incidents where police teargassed his convoy in Kirinyaga County on January 9, forcing him to address crowds in protective gear like a bulletproof vest and helmet.

Supporters have flooded social media with concern, with many expressing fear for his safety and accusing the administration of political persecution.

Gachagua's claims have intensified calls for the restoration of his security, leaving his followers in panic mode as Kenya's political landscape grows increasingly volatile.
