At the center of the storm is BBS Mall, whose owners have strongly condemned Gachagua over claims he allegedly made suggesting the multi-billion-shilling development was constructed using fraudulent money originating from the United States.
The investors have dismissed the assertions as reckless, defamatory, and damaging to Kenya’s already fragile investment climate.
They now want the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take firm legal action against the former Deputy President, arguing that such remarks risk inciting public hostility and undermining confidence in legitimate local and foreign investments.
Supporters of the former Deputy President argue he was merely calling for transparency and accountability.
However, political analysts warn that senior leaders must exercise caution, noting that unsubstantiated claims can quickly spiral into legal and diplomatic headaches.
As pressure mounts, all eyes are now on NCIC and whether it will act, a move that could further complicate Gachagua’s political standing.
