He said the prices were not just picked from the air.
According to him, the cost was decided because the government has used a lot of money to repair and improve the parks.
He said when a place gets big investment, the charges must also change so that the money used can be recovered slowly and the park can run smoothly.
Ruto said for many years, most parks were in a bad condition. Roads inside the parks had potholes, toilets were too few, and even the ones available were dirty. There was poor security, old buildings, and broken services.
He said his government decided to put real money into fixing all those problems. They repaired roads, added new toilets, improved lighting, brought new machines, and made sure the parks look clean and safe.
Because of these many improvements, Ruto said the cost of running the parks has gone up. That is why the entry fees now look high.
He said they did not raise the charges to punish anyone, but to make sure the parks can take care of themselves in the coming years.
He added that when a park is modern and beautiful, more people will visit, including tourists from outside Kenya.
When more visitors come, the park will bring more income, and the government can use that money to maintain the place without asking for more taxes from Kenyans.
Ruto also said the government has not forgotten local people.
He said there are special charges for students, for children, and for groups so that even ordinary Kenyans can still enjoy the parks.
He insisted that no one wants to lock Kenyans out. The aim is to make the parks better and self-sustaining.He asked Kenyans to be patient.
He said in the next few months, people will see cleaner parks, better services, and more organised activities.
According to him, when people finally see all the improvements, they will understand why the charges had to change.
He said the parks will soon look like real national treasures that every Kenyan can be proud of.
