Kakamega Sheikh Leaves State House in Stitches with Plea to Ruto Over 'Lost' Cockerel

A meeting between President William Ruto and Muslim religious leaders at State House, Nairobi, took a humorous turn after a sheikh from Kakamega County made a light-hearted appeal that left the audience laughing.

Speaking during the gathering on Wednesday, August 5, the cleric recalled how he enthusiastically celebrated President Ruto's victory in the 2022 General Election by slaughtering his only cockerel. According to the sheikh, the bird was all he had, and he had long wished to meet the president personally to explain the sacrifice he made in celebration of the election outcome.

The cleric told the audience that despite waiting for years, he had never found an opportunity to share the story with the president until the State House meeting. His remarks immediately captured the attention of those present, including government officials and fellow religious leaders.
