A Muslim cleric from Kakamega County left guests at State House in laughter after making a humorous appeal to President William Ruto over a cockerel he said he sacrificed to celebrate the president's election victory in 2022.
The light-hearted moment unfolded on Wednesday, August 5, during a meeting between President Ruto and Muslim religious leaders at State House, Nairobi.
Addressing the gathering, the sheikh recalled that he celebrated Ruto's election with great enthusiasm, slaughtering his only cockerel to mark the occasion.
However, he said he had never had the opportunity to meet the president and share the story until the State House event.
"When President William Ruto was elected, I celebrated wholeheartedly and slaughtered my only cockerel. Since then, I have been hoping to meet you and tell you that I lost my only cockerel because of your victory," the cleric told the president.
