Embattled Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has warned party officials against using slogans linked to President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election campaign during ODM events.
Speaking in Thika during Linda Mwananchi rally, Sifuna said some officials had started chanting “two terms” while campaigning for ODM candidates in the upcoming by-elections, a move he said sends the wrong political message.
According to Sifuna, the ongoing campaigns are only for Members of Parliament and County Assembly seats, not for the presidency.
He reminded party officials that ODM has not yet decided how it will approach the 2027 general election.
“These by-elections are not presidential elections. So I want to tell our people not to bring up ‘two-term’ chants in ODM rallies,” Sifuna said.
