The latest developments come amid growing diplomatic tensions and stalled negotiations aimed at securing a long-term peace agreement between Washington and Tehran.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces carried out what it described as "self-defense strikes" targeting military facilities, surveillance installations, and radar systems in southern Iran. The operation marked another significant escalation in hostilities between the two longtime adversaries.

The strikes followed strong remarks from US President Donald Trump, who warned that American forces would continue military action unless Iran agreed to a permanent settlement.

Trump accused Iranian leaders of delaying negotiations and failing to seize opportunities to end the conflict through diplomacy.

Iran responded by launching attacks against American military assets across several countries in the Middle East.

Reports indicated that US installations in Bahrain and Kuwait came under fire for the second day in a row, while Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for missile attacks targeting a US command center in Jordan.

Authorities in Bahrain activated air raid sirens as a precautionary measure, while Kuwait announced that its air defense systems intercepted hostile aerial targets.

The Kuwaiti government also temporarily closed its airspace due to the security threat posed by the escalating military exchanges.

Adding to concerns, Iranian state media reported that the IRGC had targeted two oil tankers near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

While independent confirmation of the attack was not immediately available, reports surrounding the incident heightened fears over the security of one of the world's most critical shipping routes.

Iranian media also claimed that the Strait of Hormuz had been completely closed to maritime traffic. However, US military officials disputed the assertion, maintaining that commercial vessels continued to move through the waterway despite heightened tensions.
