Twist in Nairobi 2027 Gubernatorial Race as New Poll Shows Babu Owino Overtakes Sakaja

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has taken an early lead in the race for the Nairobi governorship ahead of the 2027 elections, according to a new opinion poll.

The survey, conducted by ISS Africa across Nairobi’s 17 constituencies, shows Babu Owino leading with 28.1% support, compared to Governor Johnson Sakaja’s 16.4%.

Former Kemsa chairperson Irungu Nyakera is also emerging as a strong competitor with 19.2%, slightly ahead of Sakaja.

Embakasi North MP James Gakuya follows with 11.2%, mainly supported by voters in his constituency.
