What began as a missing person report for Joy Kanini Gathu has developed into a disturbing murder investigation in Nyeri after detectives uncovered her dismembered remains and linked them to her boyfriend.

On June 11, Joy’s boyfriend John Muriithi told her father, Reverend Peter Gathu Kanyua, that she had disappeared and urged him to report the matter to police.
