Prof. Kagwanja Explains Why Ruto Accepting to Set a Quarantine Facility Might Cost His Presidency

Governance expert and political analyst Peter Kagwanja has cautioned President William Ruto that the controversy surrounding a proposed Ebola quarantine facility at Laikipia Air Base could carry significant political consequences if not handled carefully.....................WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.

Speaking during an interview with journalist Jadiel Kabiro, Kagwanja argued that governments must prioritize the welfare and concerns of their citizens when considering international agreements.

He expressed concern that accepting sensitive foreign-backed projects without sufficient public consultation could fuel mistrust and opposition.

The proposed facility has generated intense debate, with critics questioning reports that Kenya could host individuals exposed to Ebola during the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Opponents have cited concerns about public health, tourism, agriculture, and the potential economic impact on communities around Nanyuki and the wider Laikipia region.

The issue has also taken on a political dimension, with some government critics accusing the administration of placing foreign interests ahead of local concerns.

Demonstrations have been reported in several areas, while calls for greater transparency regarding the details of the alleged agreement continue to grow.
