MP Gathoni Wamuchomba Predicts Opposition Will Struggle to Win GEMA Support Ahead of 2027 Race

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has cast doubt on the opposition’s ability to secure backing from the GEMA voting bloc as Kenya moves closer to the 2027 General Election. She says current political dynamics favour the Kenya Kwanza side.

She argued that the opposition is unlikely to present a presidential candidate or deputy candidate drawn from the community. In her view, this weakens its appeal in the region.

Wamuchomba pointed to the current leadership structure within government as a key factor shaping voter loyalty. She noted that the Mt Kenya region already holds influential positions in the executive.

She specifically mentioned the office of the Deputy President and multiple Cabinet roles as evidence of strong representation. She said these positions give the region a stake in the current administration.

The lawmaker cautioned against political decisions that could risk existing gains. She said voters should consider stability and development outcomes when making choices in the next election.GET FULL STORY HERE.
