Speaking anonymously to protect her identity, the 31-year-old woman narrated how a single day completely changed the direction of her life, leaving her emotionally shattered, financially strained, and questioning whether misfortune had somehow taken over her life.

“I woke up that morning like any other day,” she said. “I had no idea that by evening, I would have lost my job and also everything I had left.”

According to the woman, trouble started when she was unexpectedly summoned to her manager’s office shortly after arriving at work. She says she was informed that due to financial challenges affecting the business, her position had been terminated with immediate effect.

“I was shocked because I had worked there for years and had never received any warning,” she explained. “I tried asking if there was another role available, but I was simply told the decision had already been made.”

With only a small amount of money in her account and mounting responsibilities at home, the reality of unemployment hit hard.

“I kept wondering how I was going to pay rent or buy food,” she said. “Everything suddenly felt uncertain.”

Still overwhelmed by the news, the woman boarded a matatu back home later that afternoon. She recalls crying quietly during the journey, trying to process what had happened.
