Speaking during a church service in Kanyaluo, Homa Bay County, on Saturday, Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi said the opposition party lacks a leader with the political influence and national appeal to challenge President William Ruto.
“As it stands, there is no one in ODM who can run for the presidency. Raila did not name a successor, and we must accept that reality,” Atandi told the congregation.
The MP, who has openly aligned himself with Ruto’s administration, added that ODM must seek partnership with the government to remain relevant.
According to him, Ruto’s leadership represents the stability that Kenya needs, and supporting him would honour Raila’s legacy of peace and development.
Atandi also hit out at colleagues pushing to rebuild the party without engaging the ruling coalition, calling them selfish and out of touch with the current political direction.
