US Plans Ebola Quarantine Facility in Kenya for Americans Exposed to Virus, Reports Emerge

The United States government is reportedly considering establishing a quarantine facility in Kenya for Americans exposed to Ebola as health authorities race to contain a growing outbreak in parts of East and Central Africa.

According to reports from international media outlets, President Donald Trump’s administration is exploring the possibility of setting up the specialised facility amid rising concerns over the spread of the deadly virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda.

The proposed centre would reportedly be used to isolate and monitor American citizens who may have been exposed to Ebola while in affected regions.

Sources familiar with the discussions indicated that the US government could deploy public health officers to Kenya as part of the plan if the proposal receives approval from Kenyan authorities.

The move comes as global health agencies intensify efforts to prevent the spread of the highly infectious disease, which is transmitted through direct contact with infected bodily fluids.
