The emotional scene unfolded on Thursday morning during a gathering attended by parents, police officers, teachers and education officials after the deadly inferno shocked the country.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat had been addressing parents and students at the school when the distressed man suddenly interrupted the meeting, unable to control his emotions any longer.
Witnesses said the father had reportedly spent several painful hours at the school compound waiting for information about his daughter’s whereabouts but had received no clear communication about whether she was safe, injured or among those who had died.
As the address continued, the man suddenly screamed in anguish before collapsing to the ground while crying uncontrollably.
