Robert Alai's Reactions After Ostosti and Sifuna Missed the ODM Committee Meeting in Vipingo

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is facing deepening internal rifts following the absence of two prominent leaders, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, from a crucial Central Management Committee (CMC) meeting convened by acting party leader Oburu Oginga.

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has been vocal in his criticism, accusing the duo of undermining the party's stability and calling for decisive action to preserve ODM's legacy.

The meeting, held amid ongoing debates over ODM's political direction after the passing of founding leader Raila Odinga, was intended to address the party's strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.

Sources indicate that discussions focused on potential alliances, internal discipline, and preparations for a National Delegates Conference (NDC).

However, Sifuna, who serves as ODM's Secretary General, and Osotsi, a Deputy Party Leader, notably skipped the gathering, fueling speculation about factional divides within the party.

Alai, a staunch ODM supporter and outspoken legislator, took to social media to express his frustration. In a post dated January 7, he lambasted Sifuna, suggesting that the senator was misleading Oburu and contributing to the party's potential downfall.

"These people have decided to go and they will destroy ODM. Seems like our party leader is being fooled by the likes of Sifuna. This is going to weaken and destroy ODM," Alai wrote, highlighting what he perceives as internal sabotage.

His comments have drawn mixed reactions, with some party members accusing Alai himself of exacerbating divisions, while others echo his calls for accountability.

The absence of Sifuna and Osotsi has been interpreted by critics as a deliberate snub, possibly signaling alignment with a faction opposed to closer ties with President William Ruto's administration.

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, another key ODM figure, has publicly called for disciplinary measures against Sifuna, emphasizing the need for unity under Oburu's leadership.
