Police Boss Kanja Takes an Action on CCTV Footage Showing Police Officers Beating Up Youths in Nandi

The National Police Service has finally broken its silence on a heartbreaking incident where police officers from Nandi Hills Police Station were captured on CCTV assaulting youths who were playing pool table game.

In a statement by police spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, the said incident took place on January 10, 2025.

According to the National Police Service, the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has personally watched the CCTV video which has been making rounds on social media.

Accordingly, Kanja has ordered for immediate investigation into the incident. At the same time, the officers from the Internal Affairs Unit have been dispatched to the ground and have three days to table the report on the incident to Kanja.

The top police leadership has condemned the incident, saying that it was unprofessional from the police, noting that that will not be condoned in future.

The statement from the police leadership comes amid public uproar with Nandi County senator Samson Cherargei saying that he will not rest until justice is served to the youths.
