Major Blow to Gachagua as the Supreme Court Takes THIS Move Over His Impeachment Case

The Supreme Court has issued a major ruling on the impeachment saga involving former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, clarifying the scope of its involvement while allowing the substantive case to continue before the High Court.

In a judgment delivered on January 30, the apex court dismissed two applications filed by Gachagua and the National Assembly, bringing to a close a legal battle over the constitutionality of a High Court bench that handled aspects of his case.

The court emphasized that the matter before it was strictly limited to the process of empanelling the High Court bench, and not the impeachment proceedings themselves, which remain active and unresolved.

Justices ruled that the impeachment case against Gachagua is a separate matter and is still pending before the High Court, where the substantive legal and constitutional questions will continue to be heard.
