As political temperatures continue to rise, fresh security concerns have emerged within the opposition, setting the stage for a high-stakes meeting with the country’s top police leadership.

Leaders of the United Opposition are now preparing to confront the Inspector General of Police over what they describe as a troubling pattern of attacks, intimidation and silence from security agencies.

The opposition is scheduled to visit the office of Inspector General Douglas Kanja on Friday, January 30, in a move aimed at demanding answers and action on the safety of opposition leaders and their supporters.

The planned visit was formally communicated through a letter authored by Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) deputy party leader Cleophas Malala.
