The man, who is none other than her late daughter's boyfriend Ken Kimanthi Gichunuku alias Sultan, had actually appeared at the Kiambu Law Court for the first mention of the case.
Hon. Lucy Njeri Mwaniki also attended the court session while donning a commando outfit and boots. She also came with a large picture of the late Seth Nyakio Njeri.
The nominated MCA revealed this in a post that she made on her Facebook account, where she further revealed how she felt after meeting face to face with the man who took her daughter's life.
Hon. Lucy Njeri Mwaniki said that it was actually a difficult moment for her, because she was very traumatized.
The politician further gave netizens an update of the case, and said that the judge had granted a 5-day period for Ken Kimanthi Gichunuku to be evaluated mentally, so as to presumably determine whether he is competent to stand trial.
"Today I attended the hearing for my daughter Seth Nyakio murder case at kiambu law court. Seeing the man who raped and killed her in court was agonizing and traumatic. The judge has granted a five-day period for a mental evaluation. All the others conspiracies and master maid will be arraigned too soon. I will keep you updated as the process moves forward. Seth Nyakio Njeri dies
Seth Nyakio Njeri unfortunately died in October 2024.
The lifeless body of the 23-year-old university student was actually discovered in a rental apartment in the Biafra area of Thika County, on Sunday, October 20.
According to reports, it appeared to be a homicide case because Seth Nyakio Njeri's body had visible marks around her neck, suggesting that she could have died from strangulation.
Following her death, detectives zeroed in on one suspect, who was none other than Kimanthi Gichunuku.
The 28-year-old was actually arrested in Busia Town near the Kenya-Uganda border, in December 2025. This was a year after he allegedly committed the crime.
