Junet Speaks On Meeting Ruto In Late Nights Before 2022 Polls, States The Following

Junet Mohamed has strongly dismissed claims made by former UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala, accusing him of spreading propaganda days after the death of Raila Odinga. Speaking on JK Live, Junet questioned Malala’s credibility and motives, saying the allegations were meant to mislead the public.

Junet challenged Malala directly, asking why he failed to win the Kakamega governorship if he truly understood political strategy. He said Malala was using Raila’s death to gain attention and settle old political scores rather than respect a period of mourning.

The Suna East MP rejected claims that he held secret night meetings with President William Ruto during the Azimio la Umoja campaign. He said such stories were false and designed to damage his name and weaken ODM at a sensitive time.

Malala had alleged that Junet secretly met Ruto at night to leak Azimio plans. He claimed ODM values were sold out and said Raila Odinga was betrayed by trusted allies within the party. His remarks caused heated reactions across political circles.

Malala echoed earlier claims by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who alleged that ODM was sold to Ruto. According to Malala, party ideals were exchanged for personal gain, a claim that has deeply divided opinion among ODM supporters.

The accusations came as Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna also accused Junet of mismanaging campaign funds given by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Sifuna claimed agents were left unpaid, weakening Raila’s election effort.

Junet denied the funding claims and instead accused Muhoho Kenyatta of withholding crucial resources. He challenged Sifuna and the Kenyatta family to be open about campaign finances and stop blaming others.

Internal tensions have continued to grow, with leaders like Caleb Amisi hinting at a possible rebel movement. Godfrey Osotsi has also criticized Junet and ODM chairperson Gladys Wanga for ignoring calls for unity from Ida Odinga.

Wanga has faced criticism over perceived cooperation with Ruto’s government through cabinet appointments. Critics argue such moves weaken ODM’s role as an opposition force.

Political observers say the public exchanges signal deep cracks within ODM as leaders position themselves ahead of the twenty twenty seven elections. Despite calls for unity under Oburu Odinga, the party faces a turbulent period marked by mistrust and open confrontation.
