The announcement was made during a public gathering in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County. Leaders and residents had come together to mourn former councillor Johnstone Barasa. The event provided a community setting that allowed leaders to mix political messaging with calls for unity and respect.
Wetang’ula said the alliance is meant to give Western Kenya a stronger and more organized voice in national affairs. He pointed out that divisions among leaders from the region have in the past weakened its influence. According to him, unity is necessary for the region to secure development, appointments, and fair consideration in national decision-making.
