Election Chaos Uganda: 12 Dead as Poll Violence Sparks Nationwide Fear

Uganda is facing one of its most tense and uncertain moments in recent years following violent unrest linked to the release of provisional presidential election results. Authorities have confirmed that at least 12 people have died across different parts of the country as running battles erupted between security forces and groups protesting the outcome of the vote.

The unrest began shortly after the electoral commission started announcing early tallies that showed the incumbent taking a commanding lead. In several urban centres, including parts of Kampala and key towns in central and eastern Uganda, crowds gathered to protest what they described as a “predetermined process.” What started as scattered demonstrations quickly escalated into widespread confrontations.
