Investigators confirmed that the individual was politician George Khaniri who was accompanied by his wife Eunice on the day of the incident.
The couple visited the crash site shortly after the accident and later assisted in coordinating the transfer of Jirongo remains from Naivasha Sub County Hospital mortuary to a Nairobi funeral home.
The DCI stated that the ongoing inquiry into the accident has been extensive and has addressed concerns raised by the public and other interested parties.
Detectives have analysed information from multiple sources and recorded statements from twenty-eight individuals as part of the investigation.
Those who recorded statements include passengers from a bus involved in the incident as well as several prominent figures who voluntarily cooperated with investigators.
The agency noted that all persons of interest have been treated fairly and in accordance with the law.
An autopsy conducted on the late Jirongo established that he sustained severe crush injuries involving the chest and vital organs.
Pathologists concluded that the cause of death was multiple injuries resulting from blunt force trauma.
The DCI urged the public, political leaders and media outlets to exercise restraint and avoid speculation that could compromise the investigation or unfairly harm individuals who have assisted authorities.
The completed inquiry file will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further action once investigations are concluded.
