DCI Arrests AK-47-Wielding Gang Suspected of Terrorising Usain Gishu

Residents of Uasin Gishu County have been assured of enhanced security following the arrest of three suspected members of a violent criminal gang linked to a series of armed robberies and killings in the region.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday arrested Titus Wainaina Njoroge, Jeremiah Njuguna Kinyanjui alias Chikudee, and Patrick Kinuthia Mwangi during a coordinated security operation.

An AK-47 rifle loaded with ten rounds of ammunition was recovered concealed in a thicket within Njoroge’s homestead.

According to the DCI, the suspects are believed to be part of a ruthless gang that has been terrorising residents through armed robberies, home invasions, and violent attacks across the county.

Their arrest followed a joint operation by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), the Operations Unit at DCI Headquarters, and officers based in Uasin Gishu.

Investigations have linked the gang to several serious crimes. On November 22, 2025, the suspects allegedly held a family hostage, robbed them of their motor vehicle, and coerced them into transferring money from their mobile wallets.

Further inquiries have also connected the group to a robbery with violence incident that led to the murder of Richard Rotich, a pharmacist at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, on January 7, 2026.

Detectives say the gang frequently used fraudulently acquired identities to evade detection.

Records indicate that Njoroge, also known as Bikos, has a long criminal history, including previous robbery cases and multiple escapes from lawful custody and court.

The three suspects are currently being processed for arraignment as investigations continue.

The DCI has stated that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other gang members still at large.
