“Some of Us Joined ODM to Lead One Day, So Let’s Defend Our Party” Joho Says

Hassan Joho has reminded ODM members why many of them joined the party in the first place.

Speaking with passion and honesty, he said that some leaders walked into ODM not just to follow others, but because they believed they could one day rise to the highest office in the country.

For him, ODM has always been a political home built on loyalty, struggle, and a shared dream for Kenya’s future.

Joho explained that he has never followed any other leader blindly and has never been part of any other political party.

In his words, “Mimi sijawai kufuata mtu mwengine, sijawahi kufuata chama chengine.”

This statement shows his strong belief in standing firm and remaining consistent, even when politics becomes unpredictable.

According to him, loyalty is not something to pick and drop when it suits you; it is a commitment you honour every day.

He went on to say that ODM should not be treated as a temporary shelter where people come when they need something and leave as soon as they get it.

He cautioned those who use the party for personal gain, reminding them that ODM is built on sacrifice and unity.

As he put it, “Huwezi kututumia unavyotaka halafu ututupe.” His message was clear: ODM should be respected, defended, and strengthened, not exploited.

Joho also encouraged party members to protect the movement that has fought for democracy for many years.

He believes that ODM still has a strong future, and it can produce leaders who will shape the country, including future presidents.

For him, dreams of leadership should grow inside the party, not outside it.
